On 2nd October 2025, The Aga Khan Hostel commemorated Gandhi Jayanti with great enthusiasm, patriotism, and purpose. The event brought students together on the hostel grounds in the morning, where a series of thoughtful and engaging activities unfolded, celebrating the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.

The program featured KBC format quiz, speeches, poetry recitations, and patriotic songs delivered by students, demonstrating not only their creativity but also a deep understanding of Gandhi’s philosophy and contributions to India’s independence. Despite intermittent rainfall disrupting the schedule, the students’ spirit remained undeterred. Their commitment and participation were key to the program’s success.

A highlight of the event was the soulful rendition of the bhajan “Vaishnav Jan To,” composed by 15th-century poet Narsinh Mehta. This devotional song, which was an integral part of Mahatma Gandhi’s daily prayers, created a reflective and heartfelt atmosphere, drawing attention to the moral and spiritual aspects of his teachings.

Academic Significance of the Program

Beyond the cultural and patriotic value, this celebration also had notable academic benefits. It encouraged students to:

Enhance public speaking and presentation skills through speeches and performances.

Develop research and critical thinking abilities by exploring Gandhi’s life, ideologies, and the historical context of India’s freedom struggle.

Improve language proficiency, especially in English, major part of the program was in english.

Strengthen historical and civic understanding, connecting classroom learning with real-life reflections on leadership, ethics, and social change.

Promote interdisciplinary learning, as students engaged with history, literature, moral education, and the arts simultaneously.

Such programs provide a holistic educational experience, fostering not only intellectual development but also emotional intelligence, empathy, and a strong value system—qualities that are essential for responsible citizenship and personal growth.

Conclusion
